CannaButter (canna-butter) is short form for two words, “cannabis” and “butter”, usually reserved for making edibles. The fat or oil of the butter, clarified butter preferably, is an excellent receiver of the wanted essentials in the cannabis plant.
Making cannabis based edibles requires the base oil, cured, dry herb and the two steps of decarboxylation and infusion. Once the butter or oil is infused it can be used in many applications from culinary endeavours to body topicals.
There is one rule that must be observed when using the infused oil. Never allow the infused oil to be exposed to temperatures over 350 F. (177 C) Exceeding this temperature will result in the evaporation of your essential flower properties within the infused oil. Some say that baking at 350 F (177 C) is generally safe knowing that the internal temperature won’t exceed the 325 F (157 C) rule. Be careful and adjust recipe temperatures, portions and times accordingly.
